The pearl-maker

It itched
For which
There seemed no cure
A pebble
Did trouble
Like never before!

"Why me?"
Yelled he
As it deeply hurt
This oyster
Did suffer
A speck of dirt.

Every move
Did prove
A battle to be
'Twas hell
To dwell
With the enemy

In time
With slime
He covered this grain
That fused
And smoothed
And relieved his pain

And thus
From dust
A pearl took birth
For which
That itch
Had to hurt!

Glossary -
Pearls are formed inside the shell of certain mollusks; as a defense mechanism to potentially threatening irritants such as a parasite or a speck of sand inside its shell. The mollusk creates a pearl to seal off the irritation.
